PERFUME: Ted Baker Cate

With Valentine's Day just around the corner you might be planning a romantic meal in or out and I have the perfect little treat for yourself in readiness - Ted's Sweet Treats! The most adorable collection of handbag sized perfumes, ideal for on the go. There are four different scents - Cate, Polly's, Ella and Vida - there's a quick little quiz below, which can help you decide the one that's perfect for you! I scored mostly D's, so Cate was the one for me and since receiving it and smelling it, I couldn't agree more.

The Ted Baker Cate* (£15 - currently on offer for £10 here) comes is the best packaging I've ever seen for a perfume - this interesting triangle opens up to reveal an elegant bottle of perfume. I adore this packaging, it makes it feel a real treat without all the excess packaging you sometimes get with beauty products.

This range of perfumes are 10ml, so they are an ideal size to have in your handbag! I love that this perfume has a lid, perfumes that don't have lids are such a challenge to transport around without having everything sprayed!

The range has a very vintage feel about it, with the packaging design and use of colours. This perfume not only looks lovely is smells amazing - with top notes of peach, apple and orange, middle notes of violet and Jasmine and base notes of Vanilla, Musk, Patchouli and Sandalwood - it's a beautiful combination.

Have you tried any of the Ted's Sweet
Treats?

WEDDING: Recent Wedding Purchases

Over the Christmas period we met up with a lot of people we hadn't seen since we got engaged, back in May 2013. Every single person we met congratulated us and asked how our wedding planning was going - at this point my panic levels started rising! Since the summer we hadn't really done anything towards our wedding, other than make the invitations and have a meeting with a potential catering company. We'd both been so busy starting new jobs, moving house and the run up to Christmas! These conversations did us good though, it's got us back on the wedding planning track. So since Christmas we have delivered the notice of marriage to the correct registrars office, discussed catering with another place, paid the deposit for the place we're getting married at and had a look through the items we've already bought. I really need to get my wedding dress but I've just started to really try and eat healthier, so I don't want to get a dress now and it be too big by my wedding (probably wishful thinking but hey ho!).

We've actually managed to pick up some brilliant bargains for our wedding, so I thought I'd share a few with you...

^ We bought this Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 camera at The Wedding Show, they had a show offer and I can't remember the exact price but it was around £65. We also bought 90 shots (the paper the photo prints on), which were also on offer. It's not a cheap option for a general camera but we're going to us it as our 'photo booth' and it's a lot cheaper than hiring one. We chose it in a pale blue colour, which will go well with the pastel colours at our wedding. I've reviewed it in more detail here. ^

^ A while ago Paper Themes (I reviewed a couple of their fantastic products here) had an offer on their website - if you filled in a questionnaire you received a £20 voucher with no minimum spend, how amazing?! These cute little paper flowers were £3.99 a pack, there are 3 packs in this picture. Unfortunately they aren't available on the website anymore but you can get them for the same price from Debenhams Wedding Stationary here. ^

^ I also bought these from Paper Themes, they're £8.49 for a pack of 5. We are planning on using them to label the sweet area we might have or little signs for something. We aren't going to use them as place cards but they're so versatile, the options are endless! ^

^ These Tea Light Lantern Bag's were a bargain at 2 packs for £1, from Poundland. They have a pretty star and moon pattern on the bag, which you can see when you put a tea light inside. We will probably put fake tea lights in, just to reduce the fire risk. ^

^ We bought 5 of these hearts at The Festive Gift Fair at the NEC on the run up to Christmas. They were £1 each, we might hang them on the end of each aisle but not quite decided yet. ^

^ As I've mentioned, we're doing our own photo booth, this 'Photo Booth Dress Up Kit' is from Tesco and was reduced to 75p! We just need to get some wigs and an old dressing table we can revamp for all these props to go on! ^

Have you seen any good wedding bargains around recently?

NAILS: Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Nebline and Speeding Light

Nebline (left) and Speeding Light (right)

These were such a bargain from the Fragrance Direct sale (see post here) for 60p each - Speeding Light is still in stock for 60p, as are some other shades. You can also buy them from Boots (£2.99), Superdrug (only specialist ones online for £2.99) and Tesco (£3) to name a few places.

It's always a bit harder buying shades of any beauty product online, as you can't see what the actual colour will be but I'm really pleased with these too. I don't have any nail varnishes these colours, so they fit in perfectly. Out of the two I thought I'd like Speeding Light on best but actually Nebline is my favourite - as it's such a subtle colour it goes with everything!

I did find that this nail varnish was quite runny, you have to be careful not to get too much nail varnish on the brush otherwise you end up with a 'puddle' of nail varnish at the nail bed. As it is quite runny you really need two coats before you can see the true colour. The drying time is really quick and it did last really well. To be honest I wasn't expecting it to last very long, mainly because it is quite runny. But this last 4/5 days, which for me and my nails is pretty good going!

I created some flowery nail art using the nail art tools Tom gave me for Christmas (you can buy them here)....

Does your nail varnish collection have a wide variety of colours or do you stick to certain shades?

TOUR: Our New Home

Back in October Tom and I moved out of the house we had lived in for about 2.5 years and moved a couple of villages away to our new house. We absolutely love it here, it's a lot bigger and has period features, which we both love. We both feel very lucky to be living somewhere like this! I know how much I love reading 'house tour' posts by other bloggers (we're all nosey at heart, it's our human nature!), so I thought I'd show you some snippets of our new home we've set up together...

If you want to know where anything was from then feel free to ask (I'll do my best to remember!)

JANUARY SALES: Last couple of buys, including the 70% Boots Sale....

After many December and January weekends spent 'sale shopping' I think I've about finished. This year I've mostly got presents for other people in the sale, as we are trying to save for our wedding in August. Having said that I did get a couple of treats for myself!

Independent Cooking Shop in Stamford

^ I had been eyeing this Molecular Mixology Kit for ages now, as my brother's 18th birthday was approaching I really wanted to get it for him. He's training to be a chef, so he's into fine dining and I thought this set would be perfect for practicing spherefication and other complicated cooking techniques! It was reduced to £16.80. ^

^ When I spotted this cute little Rudolph 'thing' (I'm not really sure what it's for) I couldn't resist it. I struggle to find my Dad little presents for Christmas, that aren't food, so I thought this would be perfect. It balances on the side of your mug, I think it's meant to be for a teabag to go in but I'd use it to put biscuits in! It was reduced to £2. ^

New Look

^ This is clearly a joke set (or I really hope it is!), I'm planning on giving this to either my Dad or one of my brothers as a bit of a joke!  It was reduced to £2. ^

^ I really needed some new warmer nightwear, as our house is usually pretty cold, this stripy long sleeved top was reduced to only £3. ^

^ These are actually men's pyjama bottoms (reduced to £5) but I loved the print on them too much. Also, ladies pyjama trousers are always far too short for my longish legs - does anyone else have this problem? I really don't like trousers that are too short, so I often buy men's (or borrow Tom's!) ^

Boots

The Boots 70% sale started at 5am online on the 15th January 2014, there is always so much anticipation and excitement surrounding it but it's not always possible to get any good bargains. They sell out online very quickly, as well as in the shops. As I was working I couldn't visit a shop until the next day but I did get a couple of bargains online.
